Life Of The Church: Lead Pastor Transition Next Steps
Peace Community,
The Servant Leadership Council (SLC) is excited to share our recommendation with the Lead Pastor transition taking place this spring.
The SLC and Peace of Christ pastoral staff are in agreement that an Interim Pastor is not necessary at this time. We are confident in our current pastoral staff’s ability to lead our community through this transition and beyond.
With this in mind, we recommend Rev. David Stippick to step into a deeper level of leadership, absorbing Aurelia’s hours and responsibilities. With guidance from the SLC, David, Kyndall and Mallory plan to discuss titles and responsibilities. We hope this will accurately describe how they collaborate in leadership and meet the needs of the community in this new season. We look forward to updating you on this process.
For now, here is a timeline of events related to Aurelia’s transition out of the lead pastor role. Please note that this change requires a community vote, which will take place via email on April 13th, in conjunction with a community meeting after that Sunday’s in person gathering.
Timeline of events:
March 23: Recommendation announced and consideration period begins.
April 13: Community Meeting including transition discussion and Q&A with SLC and David. Online vote to follow.
May 11: Aurelia’s last Sunday as Lead Pastor
May 12: Pending vote, David’s first day assuming new responsibilities. Aurelia will stay on through the end of May to support the transition.
The SLC is incredibly grateful for the ease of this transition and are hopeful for the future. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or comments.
Stay tuned on plans to honor and celebrate Aurelia and her diligent service with our community.
Peace and gratitude,
Tracee Henneke, SLC Chair
